Philanthropy comes from the Greek word: philanthropos, which simply means "loving people".
Philanthropist Charles Annenberg Weingarten and the Explore team, always ready for adventure and learning, set out for India, a land ascribed with deep running spiritual and philosophical roots, a land of magic.
Here, under the inspirational guidance of Swamiji Muni Baba and his beloved Ganges River, we will take an unforgettable journey to discover the spiritual nature of philanthropy, and find ways in which we can all practice the art of compassionate giving.
About Explore
Explore is a philanthropic multi-media project of the Annenberg Foundation through which documentaries, short films, and photographs are created to showcase non-profit efforts around the world. At its core, the project is a series of filmed and photographed site visits to non-profit organizations and leaders whose work has impact locally and globally.
While site visits are traditionally made as research for potential grant funding by the Foundation, they serve a dual purpose through Explore - to showcase independent voices and work from around the world that advances the values and vision of truly meaningful philanthropy.
Grounded in the Annenberg Foundation's mission - to advance the public well-being through improved communication - Explore uses the power of images, music, dialog and the written word to connect extraordinary people, ideas, communities and cultures. Explore is based on a concept developed by and advanced under the leadership of Charles Annenberg Weingarten, who also hosts the series.
